About
Anis Suraya is a Malaysian singer, performer, and cultural arts figure best known for her hit ballad *Cinta Tersimpul Rapi* released in 1999. Born as Tengku Ani Soraya binti Tengku Sulaiman on 18 December 1980 in Terengganu, Malaysia, she began performing at a very young age through dance and singing competitions.
Her music career gained attention after she became a finalist in several national television singing competitions, including Sinaran Pasport Kegemilangan 1996, Sinaran Komposer 97/98 organized by TV3. In 1998, she signed with Suria Records and released her 3 solo full albums with 30 songs.
Internationally, Anis Suraya represented Malaysia at the *Voice of Asia International Singing Competition* in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where she achieved 1st Runner-up in 2000. In 2002, she has been selected to Astana for The International of Kazakhs Song Competition. They won The Best Arrangement of Kazakhs Songs with Shan Ana, new music arrangement by Adnan Abu Hassan.
Today, Anis Suraya continues to be recognised not only as a singer but also as a performer, educator, and cultural arts advocate. Her song *Cinta Tersimpul Rapi* remains relevant across generations and has experienced renewed appreciation through digital platforms and modern reinterpretations.
